Resin dead trees.

Last weekend at a game convention I pick a nice looking spooky tree up for 12 euros.

Great ideas. I'm trying to make some from natural wood too. I hope it'll be great. A lot of the branches out there seem to have texture that fits. Hope to be all "sleepy hollow" in a couple of months.
