Police
We've seen some modern versions so I thought some Victorian ones would be nice. First up, 'Old Bill' a free figure to the Partizan game show (obtained from eBay)

lovely! I quite like the base too, is it just painted sand?

Lowtardog- 10-30-2006

There is a comedy actor form the 60s and 70s who is the spitting image of this Officer, lovely job

I hate doing bases so I tend to go for the quick & easy approach. I use a basing mixture called Basetex that I get from Irregular Miniatures. It's a mix of sand, glue & acrylic paint so you just spread it over your base, leave for several hours & it goes rock hard. A quick dry brush of yellow to pick up some raised detail and it's done.

Victorian minis aren't really my thing although a mate of mine has tried to get me interested in Victorian Dinosaur hunting! Very nice miniature with a lovely paint job! :D I can feel my willpower slipping.........intrepid hunters stalking the ultimate prey........or possibly escaped dinos roaming the London streets.... PM

I've also got Sherlock & Watson and was thinking on the lines of a Jack the Ripper game (maybe with some HP Lovecraft overtones...) Anyway, more up holders of the law, this time from Wessex Games.

They are lovely, I had the Eureka ones and the Westwind ones and was planning on a victorian pulp game with the Queen Vic watching a Pig tickler game and Moriarty etc planning assasination but couldnt get these at the time so ended up selling the lot, ahh like many of my planned projects

You probably already know this but WestWind's gothic horror range contain some very nice Victorian minis ( police, civillians etc). Is this where you got your Holmes and Watson? http://www.westwindproductions.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=2_18 Although it's a little expensive there is also a cracking Hanson Cab. http://www.westwindproductions.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=2_34 PM

Yeap, got my eye on the West Wind stuff. That's where Holmes & Watson are from. That Hanson cab is nice ....

I had the London thugs and the detectives from that line, and while the sculpts were a bit crap, they painted up fast and looked decent, and did double time in my Old West games too! A quick Jack the Ripper boardgame type arrangement might be fun, ala Zombies!! I can feel the old brain-cogs in action...

Ahh Victorian era Gothic Horror, now you guys are talking. This is definately my area of expertise :D I have loads of stuff painted and not yet photographed for this period including my Victorian London buildings which cover a 10x4ft table. If you have not seen my Displaced Minis page with some of my gothic stuff here it is: http://www.displacedminiatures.com/Malamute/index.html

Lovely stuff Malmute, thats what I was planning on with old queen Vic but couldnt do your stuff justice. I would love to see your buildings as I plan one day to produce some for my Gangs of Newyork

fatgoblin- 11-01-2006
