Modern Vampires...New mini added
I've collected the entire range of West Wind Roadkill Vampires. They're decent enough minis but have a bit of a "cartoon" feel to them. I bought some East Riding Miniatures Corporate figures a while back and have just got round to painting them as Vampire Thralls. I think they have a much more "serious" feel to them. Anyone else got any takes on modern Vampires? PM

A very nice job PM. I think if I was going to do vapires I would go for the Corporate Mafia look such as those in Blade series probably using those guys in suits from Foundry, Copplestone and EM-4

the jobs a good one! I have to get these figures at some point. A bit broke at the moment though! I just primed up some Bobby Jackson Thugz and was thinking they would do as punk vampires nicely. basically any modern looking figure will do, depending on what you want the vampire to be. For me the images tend to be shoulder length hair, black leather and dark velvets (like Underworld). Foundry's got some. Hasslefree of course has got 2 Selene lookalikes. A Kraven lookalike would be cool. Another idea is to look for the growing pulp / 1930s era figures, or even victorian era ones, particularly the well dressed big money end cause they tend to be old fashioned. Hersey's newer vampire comes with a top hat so it might do nicely. Pulp Figures, Brigade Games, and Copplestone Castings have 1930s gangsters, Foundry, West Wind and Eureka has got some victorian era figures that might work. Foundry also has a Jack the ripper pack that will serve this particularly function well. Also, all the modern zombies will make nice ghouls for the vampires too....

I've just completed a new vampire. She's a converted Mage Knight mini. If you're interested my other modern vampires can be found at: http://www.displacedminiatures.com/Pappa%20Midnight/images.aspx?gallery_id=1395&from=Modern%20Vampires Regards PM

Love the East Riding stuff, and nice work on the paint. I'm more of a Nosferatu fan myself, so moderns are a bit thin. Maybe w/ some GW bits from the Strigoi line...?

lovely painting on that pale lady! It made me think of that Aaliyah Anne Rice movie (was it Queen of the Damned?) except well of course yours is white... @LeadAsbestos: As for Nosferatu you can just get the ones for west wind. Their clothes are rather timeless.

Those minis at the top there remind me of the 'bad guys' in that movie Dark City....very creepily cool.

Hmmm... Nosferatu I might have a go at that, never tried them before. FG: she did remind of Aaliyah , I think that's what attracted me to the mini. I can't quite get the hang of dark flesh tones so I wimped out a bit a when for the pale look! Supervike: You got me! They were definitely influenced by Dark City! Thanks for the comments , it's always a pleasure to share. PM

Dark City was certainly under-rated. Except for Keifer Sutherland, the movie was great, esp. the visuals. I will mention that I'd watch Jennifer Connolly do her taxes, or mow the lawn, or do long division, or...

or run through a maze looking for her kid brother. what a sweet lady.

Supervike: You got me! They were definitely influenced by Dark City! Thanks for the comments , it's always a pleasure to share. PM Excellent! You certainly captured the feeling of them.... LeadAsbestos...You didn't like Keifer in that role? I thought he was very good as that doctor.

It was the Peter Lorre imitation that got me...
