Play your games after dark, buy candlelight or subdued lighting with suitable atmospheric music playing in the background - it works for us! We played a Vampire game in real time, i.e started off in daylight, so the vampires movement was restricted and as the sun went down outside, out they came. It was great fun and the players kept lookng out of the window to check on the sunset!

Ah that is a good Idea . How long do you play ?

Greetings Grimm and Malamute Here in the wild wild west we have invented the Blockbuster game, one sure fire way to create the mood, for any type of game is the use of a film as the backdrop. We have successfully staged all manner of games, this way. Use a projector borrowed from work and have the whole wall showing the action. You'll be surprised how often the action resembles the film! Tension is easily created in a Zombie style game by limiting the players time in a turn, at first they think its easy but then as the hordes close in watch them sweat and make hasty decisions. A bit like space hulk! My good friend Auton will be using every device available to scare those players, and my co-conspirator the zombie lord has made up some scary T-shirts foe us to wear

Never really thought of mood building for a mini game..? I like the idea of having a movie in the background ( Dawn of the dead me thinks!) I think the pace of a game helps aswell, building slowly to a manic finish. This is one of the aspects I'm trying to incorporate into my rule set. The game table starts off reasonably peaceful with the odd zed appearing here or there. As actions tend to attract the Zombies, the more the player does, the more they've got to deal with! Within a few rounds the players have to think out each and every action otherwise they're lunch! PM

Suond tracks would be good, I have used french marching tunes before in Napoleonics but not in horror. Now Grimm beings a Psycho billy would know about some of those :D

Yes Lowtardog I have a lot of good music for thet ! you know it . No Buddy Holly  What abaut cencaunters for hidden movement some can be maby a cat wile the other is a Monster or the players must/can pick up a caunter but it can be a realy bad one . Did some one use something like that ?

Suitable background music really does set the mood. Especially for Creepie games. We use the Bram Stokers Dracula soundtrack for our games. Its a good one. Put soume candles on, dim the lights and away you go :D
