Fast Painted Zombies for my Cast of Thousands
At Historicon, the huge gun fight triggered a mob of Zombies and I ran out of painted mins, and had to revert to my plastic Zombies!!! figs that I use as score tokens. Ashamed of my unpainted plastic I vowed to ready a cast of thousands, you know the extras that fill out a scene. I give a sample of 4 hours work for 60 figs! Note I have a glad bag full of these buggers I just pulled out the top five figures! :P I used the "Dip" method: http://pshobbyshed.blogspot.com/2007/01/quick-and-dirty-zombies.html I used his method with a slight variant, that I painted the cloths on the figures. 1 Lt Gray spray paint 2 mottle of green spray paint. 3 quick assembly line paint job 8 colors randomized 4 a dash of bright red for blood smattered on the figs. 5 Dip 6 paint bases 7 mat spray total time @ 4 hours. 60 figs. , I guess my only change would be not to use "Ebony" stain. I ink all my Zombies with black so they don't look warm. You put one of my Zombies next to a living guy the skin tone really make them jump out. However with the dip, the black stain is pretty dark and really darken the figures. Maybe walnut would work better. But I'm planing a Urban game for next year, so I will truely need the cast of thousands, and this is a valid way to paint a lot of figures fast. --Tom
