Anyone played the game? Looking for opinions Hi,
I bought this game in the summer and to be honest I haven't really gotten in to it yet.. not from not wanting, but the first time I read the book it just didn't make sense to me... hehe!
Has anyone in here tried it? How does it play?
I hope that it's good for a bit narrative approach.
The minis are ok I think. Just ordered a bunch of 'em and they didn't have bad moulding or excess flash to a ridiculous degree.
Actually I also bought some Cthulu figures as I intend to blend it all in one big horror soup. They mixed perfectly with the westwind ones. I'll post some pics when I get around to doing them.

I have had the game for a while and have played it enough to know its pretty good. The editing is pitiful but the game itself is not bad.
The iniative system adds randomness with the card system which is pretty good.
I like the quality dice system that allows anyone to hit anyone in combat but the better combatant usually wins.
The fluff is awesome and almost makes up for the editing.
The minis I also like but wish that they would expand on some of the poses for some of the genres.
All and all its not a bad system, It was probably taken from Deadlands: The Great Rail Wars which is sorta funny since Rippers: The Horror Wars basically remakes Gothic Horror.
Neither system is perfect but I think that using parts of both is the way to go.

I did play it quite a bit, not a bad set of rules but there is a need to create a lot of odds and sods sort of RPG for equipment and from this it is no good for pick ups unless you do all the work before hand.
I did put together some crib sheets and a QR sheet to speed things up. I will see if I can find them but dont hold out much hope. I did put them on the Gothic Horror Yahoo group.
Figures are great but as Eerie said they dont bring out nearly enough minis. Luckily the whole Horror genre seems to be i=on the increase and so some should be able to be found from other manufacturers

Right. I found a review of the game and it actually got me thinking of why I never really got to give it a go. When reading the rules it's as if the author assumes you already know the Q-die concept from somewhere else?
That's a bit confusing.. is everything needed in the rules - I'm a painter not a lawyer so rules if not my specialty.
I was thinking that I might use this for my 1916 Cthulhu games. I just love that theme - world war one rages and weird things are happening at the fronts and in the small villages where only old people, women and children are left.
